Rachel Roy is today's Red Carpet MVP. The fashion designer is jet-setting this holiday season and if she gets her Christmas wish, she will be doing it in style! Roy told WWD.com that she hopes to get a private jet for Christmas. She also mentioned her New Year's plans are to spend the holiday in Jamaica with her two daughters.

Today's Red Carpet MVP: Lindsay Lohan

Today's Red Carpet MVP is Lindsay Lohan. Some controversy has arisen over the actress and Charles Casillo's new film, "Dogs in Pocketbooks." The movie is about a young actress who struggles with drugs, alcohol and the paparazzi. Casillo originally stated that the film was based on the life of Lohan, but now he insists that the movie is a spoof of many starlets like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. The Lohans have taken the movie concept personally, however, and are considering legal action.

Today's Red Carpet MVP is Natalie Portman. The Golden Globes nominee's publicist has confirmed that Portman is engaged to ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied and is pregnant with her first child. Portman is nominated for a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in "Black Swan," which is where the couple met.

Today's Red Carpet MVP is award-winning fashion designer Tory Burch. The mom of 3 boys tells WWD.com that her holiday plans include taking her boys to Mexico with her mother (Reva, for whom Burch's signature shoe is named after), her brothers and her brothers' families. Burch explains that her favorite Christmas tradition is trimming the tree with her sons. She said that she was thrilled that they only broke 4 ornaments this year!

Today's Red Carpet MVP is Natalie Portman. EW.com reports that in a trailer for the new Portman film, "Your Highness" (starting Danny McBride, James Franco and Portman), a scene was digitally altered. In the movie, Portman is seen wearing a thong bathing suit. However, in the trailer, the bikini is enhanced to cover more of her toosh so that the trailer would be acceptable for theatre previews. Oh, the Portman buzz is intense these days, no?

The 36-year-old actress has been nominated for many awards including SAG Awards, Golden Globes and even an Oscar for her roles in "Junebug," "Enchanted" and "Doubt." Maybe this will be Amy's year....

The film premiered at TIFF and stars Weisz as a police officer from Nebraska who uncovers a sex trafficking scandal being hidden by the U.N. The story is based on the real-life experiences of Kathryn Bolkovac. The film also stars Vanessa Redgrave and Monica Bellucci.

Today's Red Carpet MVP is Claire Danes. Danes was a big winner at Sunday's Emmys. Not only did she rock an Armani Prive beaded gown, byt she also brought a lot of attention to the HBO film she won for, "Temple Gradin." In the movie, Danes portrayed Temple Gradin (who was in the audience) who worked to promote the humane treatment of animals at slaughterhouses and ranches. Way to go, Claire!

Today's Red Carpet MVP is America Ferrera. Ferrera arrived at the 25th Imagen Awards on Sunday afternoon in a sea green ruffled dress with lipstick-red patent leather peep-toe pumps. (The shoes totally made the outfit!) The "Ugly Betty" star won the Imagen Award for best leading actress/television. The Imagen Awards honor positive portrayals of Latinos and Latino culture in entertainment. (The word "imagen" means "image" in Spanish.) This year's ceremony took place at the Beverly Hills Hilton on Sunday afternoon.

Julia Roberts will be part of a new romantic comedy, untitled as of now, about a woman who is used to working while her husband cares for their children, but undergoes a role reversal after losing her job. Ryan Murphy, the director of Roberts' new film, "Eat, Pray, Love" will write and direct.

Red Carpet News: The Help


EW.com reports that Allison Janney has joined the cast of "The Help," which is a film adaptation of the best-selling novel by Kathryn Stockett. Janney will play Charlotte Phelan, the mother of the heroine Skeeter Phelan. "The Help" is being filmed this summer in Greenwood, Miss. and will open in theatres next year.

Kate Hudson is the new face of Almay. The actress signed a multi-year deal with Revlon, Almay's parent company, to serve as the line's Global Brand Ambassador. "Almay is known for its fresh, effortless approach to beauty," Kate said in an official press release. "At the end of the day we all want to have fun and feel beautiful -- that's what Almay is all about." In addition to appearing in print, online and TV ads, Kate will also represent the brand's ongoing philanthropic efforts. According to People.com, starting on May 13th, Kate will take part in the Almay Rainforest Concert in New York City. The concert benefits The Rainforest Foundation, founded by Sting and Trudie Styler, to support and protect the world's rainforests.

Evangeline Lilly of "Lost" and Anthony Mackie of "The Hurt Locker" have joined the cast of "Real Steel," a science fiction film about robot boxers. Hugh Jackman stars as a former boxer who trains a robot for a boxing championship. Directed by Shawn Levy, the movie is scheduled to be released November of next year.
